The Demonstration of the Apostolic Preaching

A summary of the faith handed down from the Apostles

St Irenaeus of Lyons (c. 130-202)

St Irenaeus sets out for his friend Marcianus the faith preached by the Apostles: the one God and Father, His Word and His Spirit, the making of man and the fall, the long preparation of Israel, and the coming of Christ foretold by the prophets. A short and luminous summary of the faith from the second century.
