First Thanksgiving Prayer
I thank Thee, O Lord my God, that Thou hast not rejected me, a sinner, but hast vouchsafed me to be a partaker of Thy Holy Mysteries. I thank Thee that Thou hast vouchsafed me, the unworthy, to receive Thy most pure and heavenly Gifts. But, O Lord, Lover of mankind, who didst die and rise again for our sake, and didst grant us these Thy dread and life-giving Mysteries for the well-being and sanctification of our souls and bodies: grant that they may be unto me for the healing of soul and body, the averting of every adversary, the enlightenment of the eyes of my heart, the peace of my soul's powers, faith unashamed, love unfeigned, the fulness of wisdom, the keeping of Thy commandments, an increase of Thy divine grace, and the establishment of Thy Kingdom. That, being preserved by them in Thy holiness, I may ever remember Thy grace and live no longer for myself, but for Thee, our Master and Benefactor. And so, departing from this life in the hope of life eternal, I may attain unto the everlasting rest, where the sound of those that keep festival is unceasing, and the gladness of those who behold the ineffable beauty of Thy face is endless. For Thou art the true desire and ineffable joy of those who love Thee, O Christ our God, and all creation singeth of Thee unto the ages. Amen.
