Prayer Upon Rising

Having risen from sleep, I thank Thee, O Holy Trinity, for through Thy great goodness and patience Thou wast not angered against me, an idler and sinner, nor hast Thou destroyed me with my sins, but hast shown to me Thy customary love for mankind, and hast raised me up as I lay in despair, that I might rise early and glorify Thy power. And now enlighten the eyes of my mind, open my mouth, that I may meditate on Thy words, understand Thy commandments, do Thy will, and sing to Thee in confession of heart, and praise Thy most-holy Name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
